Pintea: Romania, among the few countries in the world that treat hepatitis

Romania is among the few countries in the world that treat hepatitis, starting from grade I fibrosis to grade IV fibrosis, declared Health Minister Sorina Pintea in Constanta on Friday.

According to her, the Ministry of Health aims to promote innovation in medicine, underlining that a consequence of the adopted measures was the introduction of two new molecules on the list of compensated and free medicines that are intended for the treatment of hepatitis C and prostate cancer.

“In the governance program we have a measure – innovation, promoting innovation in medicine. That means we are introducing new molecules into the treatment of patients. At the government meeting this week, we introduced two new molecules, their number reaching 37, molecules needed to treat patients with leukemia, cancer, hepatitis. The latter is a disease that Romania treats with great success. We are among the few countries in the world, not only in Europe, treating hepatitis, from grade I fibrosis to grade IV fibrosis and regardless of the degree of fibrosis for dialysis patients. There are some steps that I took. We will not stop here”, said Pintea.
