The file of the Mayor of Sfantu Gheorghe, Antal Arpad, opened by the DNA of Bucharest in 2015 for abuse of service, trafficking of influence, misappropriation of one million Euro damage, was closed and ranked after four years, according to Mediafax.
Antal Arpad said on Wednesday in Sfântu Gheorghe at a press conference that the file was opened by the DNA following an audit by the Court of Accounts and targeted a contract between the City Hall and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
“On 2 July I was informed that the file opened by DNA in Bucharest in 2015 was closed, it was ranked. I was accused of abuse of service, trafficking of influence, misappropriation of funds, with a loss of one million euros. In 2014, an audit of the Court of Accounts was conducted at the St. George’s Mayor’s Office on a contract signed with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and an indictment was made against me. In the first months of 2015, several research bodies, DNA of Bucharest, DNA Braşov and local authorities opened files that were reunited on February 15, 2015, and was a single file, taken over by DNA. Two days later, I was woken up by prosecutors, gendarmes, they searched my house, and searched at the City Hall, after which I was taken to a gang of the Gendarmerie in Bucharest for 7 hours and then left at home. I received, initially, judicial control for 60 days after which my restrictions gradually lifted”, Antal said.
According to him, in his file, which has 11,427 pages of interceptions of mobile phones or ambient, 47 people have been intercepted since 2008.
DAHR chairman Kelemen Hunor also said in the same press conference that he was very happy after Mayor Antal was announced that his prosecutor’s case had been closed, but it remains to be seen what the money was spent on file and what was the purpose.
“The prosecutor could send the case to the court, and then this series, because we live the series, would have had a new season. Our lives are extremely transparent, as we can see from the 11,000 pages of listening and tracking, and if we were not extremely correct and would have done something illegal, then things would have gone a long way. After 1,232 days the truth comes to light, but it remains to be seen what the money was spent on this file and what was the purpose. This goal was to discourage Hungarian political leaders in an important period before the 2014 and 2016 elections to assume everything in our political program, “said Kelemen, who wondered if Romania is still respecting the law.
According to him, the mayor of Sfantu Gheorghe was chosen with the wrinkled image and was harassed.
