Cioloş intends to confront Iohannis in the Cotroceni election: I am ready to candidacy, I am not afraid

The founding president of the Romania Together Movement (RO +), Dacian Ciolos, said on Tuesday evening in Iasi that he is not afraid to enter the presidential election, noting that he will run for the presidency only if he thinks he will not help the opposition.

He was in Iasi to take part in the debate initiated by the Romania100 Platform and the local communities RO100, Dacian Cioloş was asked if he would join the presidential election in 2019.

“If I would know, I would tell you. I’m ready to candidate. I’m not afraid. I will do so only if I believe that this candidacy will help win the election by political forces that lead to the country’s modernization, not to weaken the opposition’s ability to win this election”, said Dacian Ciolos, according to Agerpres.

He noted that it is important for the party he initiated to be part of the political structure to win the presidential elections in autumn next year.

Subsequently, Cioloş was asked by journalists about his possible presidential candidacy against Klaus Iohannis, he refused to give a clear answer.

“Let’s first set up the party, move on to the European Parliamentary elections and after that we will talk about the presidential elections. For us, it is important to structure the party in the territory, alongside the preparation for the Euro-parliamentary elections, where our goal is to get a very good result, and then to talk about the presidential ones. We have very clear objectives for the presidential candidates in the political program and at the right time we will express them”, answered Dacian Ciolos.

It is for the second time in the last few months when the RO + leader speaks about the candidacy for the position of president of Romania. On July 24, asked in an interview for Ziare.com, if he excludes a candidacy for the presidential elections in 2019, he replied, “.” I will not detach at all”.
Both Cioloş’s ads came after Klaus Iohannis said on June 24 that he was “firmly committed to running for another term as president of Romania” Liberals have already announced that they will support the current head of state in the election to renew the mandate.
