The son of the Russian secret service’s head received residence in Hungary through the controversial Golden Visa program

The son of the head of SVR and other members of the oligarchic system around the Kremlin have been officially residing in Hungary through a controversial government program by Viktor Orbán, shows an investigation of three publications in Hungary (Direkt36.hu, 444.hu) and Russia (Novaia Gazeta).

While Orbán closed the borders for refugees, the Golden Visa program opened a wide door for EU and NATO access to Russian investors with money and political connections, writes Direkt36.hu. The government refuses to make public the names of those who buy their residence in Hungary for money, but the journalistic investigation has revealed the names of some of them.

Family members of Serghei Naraskin, head of the SVR, are among the Golden Visa program beneficiaries. Honorable is his son, Andrei Naraskin (39), who is part of the leadership of a large state energy company in Russia. His father is part of Putin’s close circle and is on the list of EU and US sanctions for political support for the illegal annexation of Crimea.

On the list of Russians benefiting from the favors of the Hungarian government for money, Vladimir Blotskiy (parliamentarian), businessman Dimitri Borisovici Pavlov (close to the Kremlin, but with connections to organized crime, according to Direkt36.hu), Evgheni Evstratov (former head of Rosatom, the Russian state-owned nuclear power company) and Alexei Iankevici (deputy head of Gazprom Neft, Russia’s third largest oil producer).

Hungarian residence can be obtained through the Golden Visa program in exchange for the purchase in the amount of $300,000. Residence entitles the holders to move freely in the Schengen area and across the European Union.
